On Wednesday, February 7, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Enerwave and the Municipality of Istiaia-Aidipsos, in the presence of the company's CEO, Mr. Nikolaos Zachariadis, and the Mayor, Mr. Giannis Kontzias, with the subject of the donation for the construction and operation of an Environmental Information Center in Kokkinomilia, Evia.

Following the devastating fires of August 2021, which left an indelible mark on the Municipality of Istiaia-Aidipsos and Northern Evia in general, Enerwave responded in a practical way by carrying out a series of reforestation projects to date. 

However, the Company's commitment to supporting the region is now taking on another dimension through an ambitious project involving the design, construction, operation, and monitoring of the Environmental Information Center (178 sq. m.) in the old primary school of Kokkinomilia, as well as providing the most advanced audiovisual equipment. The aim of the project is to contribute to the economic revival of the region, the environmental education of visitors to the Center and residents of the Municipality, as well as the promotion of sustainability. It is worth noting that the business model for the region and the operation of the Center were developed with the study, full support, and supervision of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

The strategic pillars of the Environmental Information Center include providing information on the natural and historical wealth of the region, alternative professional rehabilitation/alternative professions (as opposed to professions based on forest exploitation), as well as education on sustainable development and the resilience of the region. In fact, Enerwave has also undertaken to provide the necessary educational material and content, which it will update regularly, in collaboration with specialized bodies.

The Environmental Information Center will be operational in 2024, primarily to promote these specific strategic pillars and, secondarily, as a cultural center for the wider region, hosting exhibitions, presentations, educational events, and artistic events, both outside the Center and in its specially designed courtyard. 

The collaboration between Enerwave and the Municipality of Istiaia-Aidipsos is expected to have a significant impact on the region, contributing to education, environmental awareness, professional rehabilitation, and the promotion of tourism.
